Known for “sparking spirited conversation,” The Shed Brewery has been a beloved Vermont institution for nearly 50 years. It’s been our privilege to help bring their rich story to life through creative packaging, product design, and labeling, with each design capturing the essence of the brewery’s heritage and vibrant community spirit.
The original building, dating back to 1830, started as a blacksmith shop and later transformed into a cider mill, where locals gathered during harvest season to share drinks and stories. In 1965, the site became The Shed Restaurant, quickly becoming a hub for skiers and locals alike, steeped in the après-ski culture of Stowe. After a fire in 1994, The Shed rose again, reopening with its own seven-barrel brewery and introducing the famous Shed Mountain Ale, quickly becoming part of Stowe’s rich lore.
Through all these changes, The Shed has remained a place for community and connection, continuing to offer exceptional brews and an inviting atmosphere for all.
For years, Four Nine Design has partnered with The Shed Brewery to preserve and amplify this sense of community through unique branding and design. Whether it’s the labels on their bottles or the packaging of their products, each design is crafted with care to reflect their storied past while celebrating their passion for great beer. Our designs continue to inspire the same kind of lively conversations that have taken place at The Shed for over a century—uniting people over shared moments and exceptional craft beer.
