TRORC is an association representing thirty municipalities in east-central Vermont, governed by a Board of Representatives appointed by each of our member towns. Our primary mission is to advocate for the needs of these towns and to shape a vision for building a prosperous regional economy. At the same time, we are committed to enhancing the overall quality of life in the region, ensuring sustainable growth and community well-being for generations to come.
As a prominent regional planning commission serving east-central Vermont, TRORC offers a wide range of services, including planning, mapping, and project management to its member towns. With a goal of enhancing community development and collaboration, TRORC needed a website that would reflect their important work while making it easy for residents, municipalities, and stakeholders to access valuable information.
To ensure the website aligned with TRORC's vision, we began with a custom-tailored internal leadership meeting to understand their objectives and brand identity. After gathering this insight, we reviewed a number of comparable websites and agencies throughout Vermont and the Northeast to identify the best practices and design trends in Vermont website design.
With this research in mind, we developed a content architecture that would effectively communicate the core elements of the TRORC brand, including their commitment to regional planning, sustainability, and community development. The sheer volume of information TRORC needed to present was a challenge, but we were determined to make the website as user-friendly as possible.
To manage the extensive content, we focused on creating a simple, minimalistic layout with intuitive navigation. We included a streamlined calendar feature and carefully organized content sections that allow visitors to quickly find the information they need. By simplifying the navigation, we enhanced the user experience, ensuring that the site was both easy to explore and visually appealing.
Throughout the website development process, we paid close attention to SEO best practices, ensuring that the site would rank highly in search engines and attract the right audience. We incorporated relevant Vermont keywords like “regional planning in Vermont,” “Vermont municipalities,” and “community development,” which helped improve visibility and organic traffic to the site. On-page SEO elements such as optimized meta tags, headings, and alt text for images were also integrated to further boost the site's search engine performance.
In the end, the new website for TRORC serves as an accessible, informative, and engaging platform for residents and stakeholders alike. With a focus on Vermont website design, an efficient development process, and a strategic approach to SEO, the site now offers an enhanced experience for all who engage with the commission’s vital work.
